multiple servers same game help

Post by wholegrain »

how would you run 2 servers for gmod each with their own file structure (we want 2 servers one is up now which is our public server which is always full and we dont like to mess around with it so much because things tend to get messed up so we are trying to get up another test server that we can mess with without it messing with our other server)

please i need some help

Doing that is pretty simple. You would need to make another copy of the server. I believe for this game, the folder you would need to make a copy of is called "sourcebase", but in short, the folder you need to copy over will be the one with the server's .exe file in it.. You can name it something else and put it next to the original one.

If you are using a shortcut to launch your original server, you can make a second one to point to the new folder. It is generally a good idea to rename the server's .exe file to a different name. This helps with being able to tell which server is which in a list of processes, such as the task manager.
