Procon Layer server setup
I've tried 6 ways from Sunday to get this working where I have my router (Linksys E3000) properly setup for port forwarding (port# 27260)etc. but the damn thing fails to connect when I run the "Test connection to PRoCon layer server". I even tried one of those automatic port forwarding apps and still no joy
Re: Procon Layer server setup
That test in procon is bugged. You will need to try a actual layer connection from another computer to see if it works.
Re: Procon Layer server setup
Didn't help sorry.
Re: Procon Layer server setup
You usually need to forward the ports in your router and ALSO open the ports in your computers firewall.
One way to see if the ports are actually open is to use CanYouSeeMe
Run the test and if the port is not open, first I would try to briefly turn off the firewall on the computer you are using. This should help narrow down the problem

I wouldn't worry about the layer test.
Ours fails all the time, but works fine.

Okay, I just battled with the same thing (Linksys E2000 in my case) and the problem wasn't the router but simply the buggy port forwarding test in Procon.Clay52 wrote:I've tried 6 ways from Sunday to get this working where I have my router (Linksys E3000) properly setup for port forwarding (port# 27260)etc. but the damn thing fails to connect when I run the "Test connection to PRoCon layer server". Do the following:
* On your modem forward the port (eg 27260) to the E3000's modem-side IP
* On your E3000 forward the port (eg 27260) to the IP of the PC that is running Procon
Now make sure Procon is running and the Procon Layer is started/active.
You can test the port forwarding here: http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
It will only show an open port while the Procon Layer is running on your PC. If you quit Procon the port will show as closed because there is nothing actually listening at that port
The Procon open port test will always tell you it has an error. Disregard.
Good luck!
