How things work in the server?
Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
It was playing pretty well, I am not sure if you are on the new Xen or not. From how it played it didn't seem so, but we are working on a global roll out of it.

Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
I meant Xen as in the software we use for our VDS's.

Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
I think John had to upgrade my Xen software few months ago due to crashes, not sure if I am running the same version as the new version you guys are running.kraze wrote:I meant Xen as in the software we use for our VDS's.
Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
Unlikely, the newest version we just started to roll out week or so ago.

Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
Is this going to be applied to all VDS's then? And if so, are we looking at down time?
Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
Eventually, yes. We are planning on doing a global rollout soon. There would be downtime involved but it will be scheduled as a normal maintenance event in the middle of the night.TacTicToe wrote:Is this going to be applied to all VDS's then? And if so, are we looking at down time?

Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
Hey,
So the performance has dipped once again. Not sure why.

Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
Be sure you are restarting often. NS2 will lose performance over time.

Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
oh ok, thanks for the tip.
Re: Natural Selection 2 Dedicated Server
After doing some extended testing, damn NS2 is a cpu hog big time, even with 20 slots.
It takes up about 25%+ CPU usage easily.
This game has long ways to go before being considered gold. Right now this game from a hosting provider view is somewhat still beta.
Lots of potential for this game, just the back-end design has been made very poorly.
I am not even sure if their team is even doing anything at this point to fix this game performance.
Ram Usage is still above 1.2GB at least.
BTW I tried to add the NS server to the gametracker but for some reason I haven't been successful :/

Once more. 16 = sweet spotFAST wrote:Hey,

You might think it is better at 20+ slots, but gameplay and server issues seem better at 16. Try it.
And yes, a daily reboot it most helpful as well.
