installing codwaw server with steam files

Post by Target »

I have a question regarding the steam version of codwaw. I've been trying to install a game server using the steam files on my vds. I'm not having too much luck. I keep getting an application load error 5:0000065434. Is there anyway to work around this error? I've been reading alot lately :-) and it would appear only a retail copy will work. The funny thing, i setup a cod4 server using steam files and it worked fine. I'm a little confused by cod4 working and cod5 not. Is there something I'm missing? Does anyone have a suggestion?

I used this link as a guide to setup the server http://guides.tntblowout.com/codww/index.html

I've never tried to set up WaW using the Steam files, myself. I just did it from the CD for our systems here.

You might just need the exe file from the retail version, maybe john can help you with that, or somewhere on the internet there may be one available for download.

The file would be great to have if that is possible. I've been looking on the internet, it appears that there is a linux version but not a windows version for a dedicated server. I do have a support ticket in with Steam, but have a feeling that will lead to nowhere. Its been a week since I first made it so it kinda looks like I might be right.

The weird thing the cod4 files worked :-) crazy.

Thanks

CoDWaWmp.exe is the file that we use.

Do you have the full DirectX libraries installed on the VDS? It looks as though we had to tweak those to get it to work.

my steam copy of waw did not run a dedicated server correctly with the guide you linked, I haven't tried it with another .exe though

ya Edge i installed the directx libraries. Of course there is that possibility of me missing something. I've tried just about everything. Last night I finally broke down and bought a retail copy. So now I have a retail and steam version :? I'll give that a shot and see if I can get it running.

Thanks for your help Edge and soja
