I have had my private server for almost a month now and for the past week I, and my fellow partners have experience VERY BAD LAG. When we have scrims between 7pm-3am We experience this lag. THe location that I use is the Hybird. Is this why? Should I change it to the Level3 location? I would gladly appreciate the help.
Same problem happen in our pub, I don't own that server. The pub has the ping accelerator and CPU Prioty, and is located at the level3 location. We experience very bad lag between 6pm-10pm. Why would be the cause of this issue?
Thanks A lot!

Ok. You need to email rental@nuclearfallout.net about this. They will look in to the reports and box and see what is going on.
Well I sent an email with the tracert information. And I changed the cl_updaterate to 40, cl_cmdrate to 40 and rate to 10000, hopefully this help and I will tell my team mates to change if they haven't already. For some reason mine were different
Hopefully that helps. MY teammates said that it gets very laggy at around 9:00pm (PST), but I can't say that from my part cause I'm at work half of the time
. Hopefully the tracert information helps out in resolving the problem.
Thanks alot for the quick response and help!

I've noticed a lot of people complaining about lag or lag spikes, this might be the problem and the solution...
Half-Life (especially Counter-Strike) game servers with 10+ players that run VAC have been found to use over 70% of a machine's CPU. Usage levels that high will cause the game server to lag itself, irregardless of what else is running on the box. This problem had gotten worse after the upgrade to CS1.6 and then again after the late November / early December updates; The Steam Forums are riddled with server admin complaints of high CPU usage for the dedicated game servers.
VAC IS NOT REQUIRED BY CAL
Contrary to popular belief, according to CAL's own rules VAC is not required by CAL and with regards to cheating, it doesn't catch the latest cheats. CAL rules explicitly state that if you want to catch a cheater then you can't rely on alerts from Anti-Cheat software but instead must demo the suspected cheater and give the demo and evidence to a [CAL] admin. A quote from CAL's rules below:
"Alerts from the software is NOT an indication of a definite cheat. In the case of a member being "caught" by this software, the person should submit their demos and evidence to an admin. This information will be reviewed in order to determine if this was a valid detection." -CAL rules.
Disabling VAC might be the solution to your lag issues.

Crab, good post. We have noticed the increase in demand on each machine since the first Steam update and in continues even higher. We look at all of the plugins that are running on each server and compare them with servers running on the same box. If one server suffers from lag but the other does no, it usually points to a plugin that is misinstalled or incompatable with Steam.
I appreciate for your help guys! I disable the VAC from the server. Hopefully it helps decrease the lag. We'll see n if not, I WILL BE BACK for help! =)
ONce again thanks for the help guys!!!!
