Cannot connect to FTP

Post by punkness »

Getting this error every time I try logging in through FTP. Any clue? I can't find anything about it anywhere, except a topic that ended up getting no solution.

I have Norton 360, I tried disabling the "Smart Firewall" and it still didn't work.

Have you tried accessing your FTP with your server shut down? If the files are in use that can give you an error because the files are "locked" when in use.
<Spray> Please try locking your modem in a closet, or facing it towards the wall in the corner, so it knows its misbehaved

I've tried it with the server on and off, it still does not work.

Try using a FTP program to connect to your FTP server. The most common is Filezilla.

Oh wow. Derp. Didn't think of that. I'll try it, I'll post my results here.

Okay, it's working.

By the way, for anyone else who has this issue, I'm using CoffeeCup FreeFTP.

Well, I thought it was working, but apparently none of the FTP clients are working either. I keep getting connection timeout errors on each of the FTP clients. I'm pretty sure it's a firewall issue.

Except I have like 0% knowledge in how to fix ports and such...

Open a request via the "help" tab in your control panel so we can take a deeper look at your FTP with you.
