A few Questions, Thanks

Post by T3T4ser »

Hi guys,
I'm a long time player of DoD and a couple of my friends and I are interested in purchasing a public LA Optimized/Ping accel/20 slot server. We are completely new to renting a server and aren't really sure how the process works. If we rent from NFO is everything going to be setup and ready to go pending payment? Is there anything we need to do or have other than basic server setup i.e. amxmod n' rcon? How does the server launching process go? If you could run by me how the process works I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

The paypal subscription link including a 2-day free trial will be sent to you through email. When you sign up for this link, your server will be created immediately.

That's up to you. Many people start with a basic AMXx install and customize it over time.

The server can be started and stopped through our control panel according to your direction.

It's a VERY simple control panel to use! You can administer just about anything for your server with it (add/remove maps, MOTD, admins, etc.)

Here's a basic view of it:

Thanks for the quick reply guys, just one other question I was interested about. It shows the Ping to my computer Lower on the LA Hybrid server compared to the LA Optimized server. And it seems to be constantly lower on the Hybrid Server (I'm looking on the speed Link) Why is this? I thought the Optimized server was built for extreme performance? Thanks.

Some internet connections peer better with hybrid peering backbones than optimized, or that could change over time. We state on the bottom of the Speed/Location Link, that "the properties of the Hybrid bandwidth may fluctuate over time", which includes ping. Overall for gamers of various locations, the optimized bandwidth brings lowest pings or the best routing. Both bandwidths are the best available in the nation.

You may choose hybrid in your initial order and switch to optimized later if you choose to (note: requires a change in IP to do so)
