server log files

Post by Buster »

you can also sometimes find clues on why the server froze by looking at the log files. If you have a Half-life server, you might consider running a program such as HLSW in the background on your client machine and examining its logging output after this happens the next time.
i was looking at the log files but most of them have nothing in them?

How are you viewing them? If you are trying to open them using IE FTP by double clicking on them, that will open a blank text file. You need to download the log files to your computer then view them if this is your error.

I am seeing data within the log files such as one from 3:06-4:38 AM, which shows you playing with a clanmate. The larger log files show data from players on the map(kills, connecting, disconnected, etc.). Previous to this larger log file, you should see a smaller file, which shows the map loading and the server cvars executed (this is where fatal errors are displayed).
