New at running server please help

Post by Leadfoot »

I have just started running the duiplayground2@nuclearfallout.net server and I need some help. Please bear with me as I am real noob at all this.

1: I uploaded a custom map to the server. It works fine but if someone who doesnt have it wants to join it wont let them. How can I set it up to download the map. Other then the one linking it to the webspace?

2: I also uploaded some sounds but ingame I get an error message saying

Failed to load sound "misc/firstblood.mp3", file probably missing from disk/repository

3:when the server is empty it stays on the same map until people are playing? How do i fix it to change maps when server is empty

Custom content should download automatically from the game server. However, for CS:S, if you have an sv_downloadurl specified (and I can see that you do), the custom content _must_ be on that url. For whatever reason, VALVe did not make it revert back to the trickle method (game server download) if the file is missing from the webspace.

It's difficult to say what could be wrong with the mp3. You might want to make sure that the entire file was uploaded and that you have the file in your /misc folder on your computer.

The map should always change when mp_timelimit runs out. If its not, then it must be something in beetle's mod that is preventing it from changing.

Yes, if its looking for the files at that url and they are missing, that is what is causing your problems.

Great I removed the string and it fixed the map download problem but I am still having problems with the sounds. Still says they are missing from the disk/repository

hmm, I dunno then. Check to make sure that file is in the correct place on the gameserver and then consult the documentation for Beetle's Mod.
