Want to rent a server

Post by Defyishuge »

Ok I have a server now but the company is kinda crappy and Ive heard from a number of people that this is the best hosting company around. So before I rent I have a few questions to ask because I am retarded when it comes to computers.
1)Is there any fees for setting up cal.cfg, vac, mani mod, and anything else.
2) My clan is expecting to go into cal next season and is a 33 tic server good enough or would I have to use a 66 or 100tic (I dont really know what tic rate means...)
3)Do you offer free teamspeak and or webhosting if you buy a certain number of player slots
4) What can I use to change server configs and stuff like for example right now I can use Cortex and html to change maps and upload maps.

Thank you for your time and I hope to have a server from you guys soon

We can assist you with most things for free through live chat. Although we don't officially support mani mod, we can point you in the right direction on how to install and configure it.
2) My clan is expecting to go into cal next season and is a 33 tic server good enough or would I have to use a 66 or 100tic (I dont really know what tic rate means...)
We have a good explanation of our ping accelerator and tickrates here: http://rentalforums.nuclearfallout.net/ ... php?t=2407. I would highly recommend that you purchase the accelerator and run at a tickrate of 66 or 100 -- you'll find servers at those tickrates to be more responsive, and that is important in matches.
3)Do you offer free teamspeak and or webhosting if you buy a certain number of player slots
We don't currently offer TS servers, just Ventrilo -- those are available for an additional fee. Webhosting is free with all our game servers.
4) What can I use to change server configs and stuff like for example right now I can use Cortex and html to change maps and upload maps.
You can edit and upload anything through the server FTP. We also have facilities for configuring the server through an Easy setup page and a file manager built into our control panel.

Yes, they are fairly simple to install. We can answer any questions you may have about them.

Once you have a server, you can use the Live chat link available in your server's control panel -- that's the quickest and easiest way.

One last thing, I will have 2 days to decide if I like the server and the support and all that before I have to pay? And in those 2 days will I be able to upload files or not?

Yes, the two day free trial is standard for anyone who hasn't rented from us in the past. For those two days you will have the same access to the server that you will have after the free trial ends.

Every Single CAL-M/I team has a 100 tickserver
75 Percent of CAL-O has a 100 tickserver

get a 100 tickserver NOBODY wants to play on anything else

This might be true for a scrim/match server, but several of our most popular public cs:source servers run at lower tickrates. (33 & 66)

CAL Rarely enforces this about administration plugins unless they drastically alter the play of the game however in a private server my clan rents we only use rcon and CSP as CAL requires according to the following rule. We have an EXTREMELY select few we have given access to via Rcon, and only 2 of us (the 2 that know everything we're doing even though sometimes it's not enough) have access to the NFO Control Panel
5.10 Anti-Cheat

Valve Anti-Cheat (“VAC”) is required on all servers used in CAL matches. In addition, CAL Server Plug-in (“CSP”) is also required. No other plug-in and/or 3rd-party software is to be installed on servers used in CAL match play. CAL takes no responsibility for the use of any 3rd-party software. Should a match be compromised due to the presence of such 3rd-party software, the hosting team will be held responsible.
But risking it is not an option in a dispute if you ask me.

And yes NFO IS the best host around, you get more than you pay for in my opinion and that why I <3 them :)
