Server Crashing Repeatedly

My 32 man public server has been crashing for the last 3 days around 5am or 5:05am in the morning pacific time. Once it crashes I cannot restart it. The control panel says that the server cannot be reached. So I can't restart it from the control panel.

So for the last 3 days in a row my server stays offline for 3 hours from 5am to 8am. I emailed Tom and he told me that the server is updating around that time and my server failed to restart itself. But 3 days in a row? It's never happened like that before, usually when it crashes i can restart it myself.

I was wondering if there is any way to keep my server up and running 24 hours a day without it completely crashing at 5am in the morning for 3 hours each day and then it goes online again at 8am.

I usually play during this time and a lot of my friends do also. Its always full with 30 or more people 24 hours a day. We hate going to other inferiors server to play when this happens. We like to play on our #1 ranked counter-strike server instead

Unfortunately sometimes the OS updates automatically installed at 5am on some mornings (as detailed on the Health page) are buggy and don't restart the machine properly. We hate it too, but luckily these patches only need to be applied once a month on average, and usually do not cause this problem. Normally our systems would automatically power cycle downed machines, but when several machines are affected at a time, this behavior is disabled.

This morning and yesterday morning, two machines had a problem with patches. It seems that you were unlucky enough to be on one of the machines with the problem for both of these days

(Our records show that there was not a problem with your machine restarting on Tuesday, just Wednesday and Thursday.)

That would indicate a new problem with your specific server machine. Problems like this are exceedingly rare.

Since this is not a global problem, you should email us about it.
