Sounds
Anyone know of a sound quality that CS:S will play? I have some sounds that already work and some that don't due to incorrect bitrate. If I turn the quality way down, it works but the sound is VERY bad quality. I was looking for a sutiable quality bitrate that will work in CS:S.
If you are using wav files, they cannot be formatted in the MPEG Layer-3 format (should be in the PCM format). Also they have to be 11.025 kHz 8 bit mono or 22.050 kHz 8 bit mono. There are bitrate changer programs or sound editors that can change the audio files accordingly if your custom audio file is not working. You can look at the file's properties to see the format and bitrate. If you look at the audio files from like mani or beetlesmods, you will see a trend with mp3 and wav properties.

That should be fine, mp3 has a higher range. Look at the existing mp3 files' properties, you will see some of them at that level. For example, the waitingforsuspect.mp3 is at 192 kbps @ 44 KHz sample rate. Due to this, try to use mp3's as much as you can since they are a smaller size and better quality.Smoke it Up! wrote:What about MP3 files? If i put the bitrate to 8 it is soooo quite you can hardly hear it. There's tons of other options (i.t. 128kb, 64kbps, etc.)
