I'm going to assume you did mean ticrate (not tickrate), as in for HL1 based servers. We set the ticrate to 1000 which we find to be the best optimal setting.

Some people spell it differently or do not know the difference between ticrate and tickrate. I was just making sure, because then I would have a different answer for a Source server. If you have any further questions, I'll be glad to answer them live on IRC or here if you prefer that.

Yes, for HL1, Valve called it "ticrate" and for HL2, Valve called it "tickrate". You asked about "ticrate", which is Nick commented on it and told you the answer for HL1.

They are virtually the same thing, but since there are different net codes for each game (HL1 and HL2 based), ticrate and tickrate are used differently for each respective game. It is how Valve decided to have these cvars interact with the net code.
