What is the bottle neck on my server?

Post by ShadeZeRO »

Hey.
I'm sorry, but I dont have a NFO Server (yet, 1 month of Prepaid credit left until I make the move over!)

I do have a counter strike source server right now, but the thing is I'm having issues with it.

When alot of people join, on my netgraph it shows under the
"in" to be lower then 100. Actually, around 12 people, it gets down to 10/s .
Everything gets choppy and what not. The out stays where it's supposed to (about what my FPS is)

Can you help me please find out what the problem is? I want to have a good last month till I move over =)

That could indicate a low server FPS, or a problem with the rates. When you type "rcon stats", are you seeing a low number in the FPS column? What sort of sv_maxupdaterate and cl_updaterate are you using?

To get the best idea of how it's performing, you'd need to poll frequently while the players in the server are experiencing the problem. (If your server were with us, we'd turn on our monitoring system for it and start generating 30-second FPS graphs for this.)
