Dear NFO and other registerd members.
First let me say that I have heard nothing but good storys about your servers. I have come here to ask a question about your servers and im wondering if you can help me?
Why do I pic NFO over another company?
I have been leading communities for the last 3 years and am very good at it. I started N00BRefuge 2 years ago with my friend Aaron and always delt with dedicated boxes. I found that its a great way to go aslong as your not stuffing the box with multiple servers and have an idea on how to set them up. $400 a month was the only downfall lol.
Now Im on my new venture set right here in Las Vegas. We have a website called http://www.feelthefunk.com and have been around for over a decade now. My friend and I have just recently decided to make the website a Source Community because we play the game so much and are very good at building communities. We offer so much more on the site, but you will have to come see for youself.
Right now we are dealing with another company and im very dissapointed in there servers. We have a 30 man 66 tic and if we fill over 20 people we begin to lag. I know why.... Its because they need to make there money every month so that they can get there money back on the server, simple. Now I can understand this because your a company and want to make money. BUT!!! when your trying to have a well maintained community with a server that lags, its hard to build. We are growing daily and I want the feelthefunk.com community to have a nice no lag server to play in. Money is not really an issue here, I just want a server with no lag.
I have checked out your server costs and what you offer.
I priced out a 30 man server (didnt give me tic rate to choose?)
Located in San Jose.
HLTV Server slot 10 person.
High CPU Priority (Please respond with what this means?) thanks.
Hyperaccelerator [500 FPS] (Please respond to what this means too?)
Stats to be generated 4 times a month.
$150.45 was the monthly payment and I have no problem paying this.
Now, why would I go with this over any other company out there? Also, what are the specs inside the boxes we are going to be put on along with how many other servers are sharing the box. If im paying $151 a month, I would hope that I will recieve no lag.
Thank you very much for your time NFO and I hope to hear from you ASAP. Im projecting to make the switch Friday May 11th if I like what you have to say.
Brian.
P.S Are there any trials I can go through so that Im not paying $151 for a month of lag?

I'll group the first two questions together since they are similar.

We combine the top hardware, bandwidth (Internap), a strong support staff available through live chat on the control panel as well as email, some freebies such as a Ventrilo server and free 2 GB of webspace (recommended to use for fast downloads) and unlimited emails for your subdomain with us. With our service levels, just can't find the quality we strive to provide elsewhere.

All servers come with a tickrate changer on the server control page where you can select 33, 50, 66, 85 or 100 tickrate. For a public server of your size, we highly recommend running 66.
High CPU Priority (Please respond with what this means?) thanks.
This sets your game server with high priority with the machine, its an option within the OS. It is typically used for large servers and/or servers with a lot of addons.
Hyperaccelerator [500 FPS] (Please respond to what this means too?)
A default Windows based game server only runs at 64 FPS. We raise the FPS from 64 to 500 for faster updates per second server side. This allows the game to be smoother, better gameplay and even results in lower latency ingame. Note: This does not increase your client FPS, this is only for the game server.
Also, what are the specs inside the boxes we are going to be put on along with how many other servers are sharing the box.
You are automatically placed on the machine with the least load over time so it would be difficult to place exactly which machine you would be on at this time. When your game server is online, you can see the machine on your server health page where you can monitor its cpu usage among other things. We have an automated load balancing system that monitors the load across machines and makes sure your machine does not go past our threshold regularly. The types of hardware we employ are quads or octo's (dual quad).
P.S Are there any trials I can go through so that Im not paying $151 for a month of lag?
There certainly is. There is a free 2 day trial automatically given to you when you sign up for your first game server from NuclearFallout.

Thank you very much for your time and answering my questions.
If I place an order Friday night will my 2 day trail start saturday morning? Or friday night ending on saturday?
I would like to have the 2 day trail for saturday morning running to sunday night and if all goes well carry on with the payments.
Let me know how long it would take to get the server up and running?
Thanks again for your time.
Brian.

All depends on the timing, typically it ends up being Friday night, Saturday and Sunday as the trial, so you gain a little more for your trial. Once you sign up, you'll be able to see what day it is for the billing date.
Only takes about 5 minutes for the server to be created, 10 minutes at the most once you activate the Paypal subscription.

check out my server its almost full 24/7
fourty7r.nuclearfallout.net (Its located in San Jose)
I've been with NFo for almost a year now, and I'll let you guys why I am still with them. About the lag...its internet buddy there is always going to be lag spikes but not server sides, most of them are user side...and routing. Other than that I can assure you that my 2 NFo servers that I've been renting over a year now..well they never failed on us, we get compliments from the CAL teams we play and also TWL, we are in leagues every season and we want the best we can get out there and NFo is simply the best you can get.
- Support = Live chat which is pretty much available all times thru the control panel (when you rent a server)
- Server control panel = A+ user friendly.
- Hardware = usually always top notch hardware (they even have quad cores) This company spends alot of money on their hardware to make sure their users experience the best possible gaming experience in their servers.
- Servers = A+ compared to any counter strike source servers, I hardly ever experience any lag or choke***
***Usually to not get any choke or lower your choke you would have to do some tweaking on user side.
Other than that I hope to see you checking out my server and see what you think about it and yes I definetly understand that you need an awesome server to build up a community well I've built a huge community all thanks to NFo and their servers. Without them my clan would have fallen apart a long time ago.

I understand that the internet gives lag, thanks.

Thanks for the extra info Icewolf, we should get together a scrim sometime. We are 10-1 in TWL and have yet to find a team really push us. CAL-0 next season though
