600 ms ~35 in/out Help?

Post by Midjet »

Ok, just recently I have been getting absolutely INSANE ping in my server. It says its going to about 400 ms on the net graph and my in and out are about 35. My server is a 100tic 2000fps and my rates are 25000/100/100 So, I should be fine. I get about 98FPS on the stress test and my PC specs (roughly) are:
Nvidia 8800GTS
amd 4200 x2
2gb of ram
What could be causing this?

Have you ran a tracert yet? http://rentalforums.nuclearfallout.net/ ... php?t=1539

Have you contacted us on live chat regarding this?

My guess is that your netcode settings got reset or someone modified your server max's.

It looks like you're having big spikes starting at the first hop. The most common cause of this sort of problem is some other application or machine using a large chunk of your bandwidth. Are you sharing the internet with anyone, or do you have anything running in the background?

Other possible causes include glitching of your machine, broadband router (if applicable) or DSL/cable modem (try rebooting those and seeing if that helps) and problems with your ISP in your neighborhood.

I might aswell post here instead of making a new thread.

We have had two nfo new york halo pc servers, were i normally ping like 100/133, but at around 9pm my time (eu denmark) i start going up to around 400 and keeps going like that to around 9am next morning.
I done everything possible to find out what this is, but it's been impossible to figure out=(
Well, then i changed my server location to atlanta, and now it's fine. steady ping 24/7

I hope you guys can help, cuz i would rather have my server in NY since i ping better there then atlanta.

You'll need to do a tracert to NY, they are probably doing some work on the transatlantic line or something similar. You can send it to us at rentals @ nuclearfallout.net

My ping is messing up BAD since yesterday. I usually have a steady 133-167 ping in our ATL server. Now its spiking up to 400 and and hardly stays the same.

Any idea on how I could fix it?

If you are only getting 98FPS on the stress test, you have more than a ping problem. I have an 8600GT and I get over 200FPS on the stress test.

Restarting networking components usually works miracles for latency(ping)/download issues.

Guys, whenever there is a suspected routing problem, you need to email us. These tend to be client-specific problems and therefore not well-suited for forums. It is also slower to troubleshoot them here.

Just follow the instructions in our tracert tutorial at http://rentalforums.nuclearfallout.net/ ... php?t=1539
