thinking of renting

Post by hatrixxx »

Well i had a cod2 server for about 6 months back in 06 and a cs source server in the spring from NFO and they were amazing. Great quality and service ETC. now i am out to rent a dod source server, only thing is the prices of NFO servers have raised alot sicne i remember back last yr.
im weary to whetehr or not i should fork out the crazy amount of money they are asking

i mean 83$ for a 16man hyperaccelerated?
a lil pricey
i need some HONEST opinions not any NFO lovers bias. I know they are good but money is money.

Our Source prices have actually gone down a bit since earlier in the year at every location. :P

Have you considered getting a standard accelerated server? A constant 250 FPS is very good for a public server and much better than you would get from most of our competitors at its price point.

Yes the prices are quite high here and sometimes I too am left wondering why I pay such premiums... But one thing keeps me here, consistency of everything (from performance to service), the entire picture works in unison and delivers amazing performance.

I think you should make the choice on your own as to whether that kind of piece of mind is worth it; to some it is, to some it's not... It all depends if you are going to have time/patience to deal with another server company who provides little support/quality or if you would rather have simple piece of mind to be here.

If you choose to go with NFo, my referrer ID is bnd ;-)

In regards to the pricing concerns, we're actually very competitive with other reputable providers in our market segment (the "quality" niche).

All of us in the "quality" niche are higher-priced than other segments such as the ultra-cheap one that you hear a lot about ("99 cents per slot") and the no-name newbies that claim high performance but run on cheap and quickly overloaded dedicated servers ("1000 FPS for $1.99 per slot"). Those segments have significantly lower quality and service levels, and have to cut corners in ways we do not want to (bandwidth quality, hardware quality, automated system and control panel quality, customer service, etc).

Don't forget that every bit of extra money we get goes back into the company to buy more hardware and improve our quality even further. We're not getting rich off this by any means ;).

Well obviously you make money off the company but that's what companies are for :-). Anyways, yes you are competitively priced in comparison with high quality server providers.

By the way, I've been a NFo customer for 3 years as of November so I'd have to recommend them.

Sadly, this is not a very profitable business to be in. We pay our employees salaries, and use the rest to buy hardware, pay for bandwidth and fees, etc. There isn't any left over after that ;).

Well then ok, you don't get a profit necessarily but at least everyone gets paid and the company/organization and you keep everything going.

Anyways, I recommend buying from NFo.

Keep in mind a part of the money goes to pay for non server things like the gigs of space/bandwidth you get for your webspace, 18?/24 hour control panel customer service, InterNAP and rerouting your server, free HLTV/Ventrillo packages, sql servers for psycho-statwhores etc.
