Potential customer(s)
I had recently gotten into cs thanks to my friend.
and me and him were wondering about renting our own server,
and we would like to rent from you guys,
but we had just a couple of questions.
I have answered 99.9% of the questions we had thanks to this forum,
but was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for the last couple we had.
1. is there any system requirements on our end?
2. does anyone have or know where a tutorial is on running a cs server?
also if anyone knows of any other places(other than on this forum) to get add-ons or plugins for nfo servers i'd appreciate some input.
Thank you for everything.

There should be no system requirements above what you need to play the game.al.capwn.ftp wrote:1. is there any system requirements on our end?
I don't know of a thorough one covering rented servers offhand, and renting starts you off quite a bit ahead of the curve. I'd recommend our Easy setup page as a good start point, as it allows you to install basic admin mods and set essential server variables. If you have questions about how these work, we'd be happy to assist you through our live chat service.2. does anyone have or know where a tutorial is on running a cs server?
With CS 1.6, I'd recommend running AMXmodX, or with CS:S, I'd recommend running SourceMod; both forums are great places to find plugins for just about anything you'd like to do.also if anyone knows of any other places(other than on this forum) to get add-ons or plugins for nfo servers i'd appreciate some input.

Wow, that was alot faster than I was expecting,
thank you very much.
I will be talking to my friend about this tomorrow at college,
and i'm like 99% sure we'll be getting a server.
thanks again for such a fast reply.

Congrats on the idea of getting a server. You are in college (like me) and you are just getting into CS servers, while I am getting out of servers... Ah well, I guess 8 years of this stuff gets a bit old. Anyway, if you need help, I'm BnD|Sleeper or on various forums (including [ur=http://forums.alliedmods.net/]http://forums.alliedmods.net/[/url] which is where AmxModX and Sourcemod originate from) you'll see me as "Slmclarengt."al.capwn.ftp wrote:Wow, that was alot faster than I was expecting,

Be warned that Live Chat employees can help you with some things, but they can be somewhat unhelpful with many things, especially with anything beyond "their scope" which in my years of this, I think everything is beyond their scope; hehe.
But I digress. If you like Warcraft style games and you like CS, get in touch with me because boy I'd be quite happy if you wanted to take over my already-popular and well-ranked WC3 server

If there was one thing I would advise you of, it is to be patient and understanding. Those two qualities can get you very far with a game server, because they are frustrating and outlandish at times...
To start things off, do things in a "controlled environment." Change one thing, reset the server or execute the server.cfg. If you change many things that are crucial at once, hell rises, and rather quickly (along with your blood pressure and temper).
Direct advice:
Maps: FPSBanana will be your friend, your lover, your 'bed buddy' - trust me

Tutorials: None other than... Google
Help: NFo's Live Chat, Forums, Email and for more intricate problems, AMXX/Sourcemod forums.
Server ranking and statistics: Game-monitor (here's my server)
If you want to contact me directly, my e-mail is sleeper [at - spam bots, you're retarded] bndclan [D O T] com
Website: BnDClan.com - my name is Sleeper.
If you do order an NFo server, feel free to refer me, which would be referrer "bnd"
Poor John and Tom have dealt with me for so many years now (since 2004). I think it's a love-hate relationship because they love my money but hate my presence

Anyway, I ramble when I'm procrastinating (screw accounting homework), but good luck, have fun, and try not to make babies

Re: Potential customer(s)
haha, i second that with accounting,
i have a bunch of homework for that class.
so i know exactly where you're coming from. lol.
and we're just interested in seeing how it is to have a server for a lil bit,
but i'm sure we'll get addicted to having our own server just like we are to the actual game. hahaha.
but thanks again for all of your replies,
my friend will be making the purchase (as i do not have or believe in credit cards),
and he even said he'll prolly purchase it before he goes to work in the afternoon.
thanks again.

Alrighty, server has been rented and used bnd as the referral
thanks for all the help!

Re: Potential customer(s)
I'd recommend getting a credit card as early as you can and charging just a small amount to it each month, then paying it off immediately. Having a good amount of credit, and a long credit history, are necessary to getting a good credit score, and a good credit score comes into play now more and more, even for many small purchases like cell phones and rental cars.

no joke.
but i refuse to play their game.
credit was made for people to stay in debt.
and i refuse to be one of those people.
i like dealing with cash, not paperless money.

Manage your credit well and you'll benefit greatly from a credit card and good credit history. Also keep up to date on your credit history otherwise you may be victim of ID theft. Some debt is actually good debt. From a corporate perspective, some industries tolerate high amounts of debt (airlines, cars, etc...).al.capwn.ftp wrote:no joke.

So opening your horizons to something you will need later, especially in the credit crunch we are in, will benefit greatly (mortgaging home, etc...).
Just my (1/10*.2) cents

Re: Potential customer(s)
haha, i know,
but i just don't like the whole idea of borrowing money to pay for something.
i'd only do it if i had the money set aside already to pay it off at the same exact time that i would use a credit card or credit in general to purchase something.
i just refuse to take a loan out for a car,
pay 180% of what you would if you paid it off right away.
its pointless.
they're just raping you a new one. haha.
but it's just that i prefer to only purchase something if i have the cash to cover it right then and there.
but i do see where where you're coming from,
and i do know good credit is always good to have,
but i jsut don't like the whole way it works.
haha.
its a lil scatter brained right now,
but i don't feel like sitting here for the next hour typing up what i'm trying to say. haha.
so i'll just leave you with that. haha.

You are going to have some big problems in life unless you like:al.capwn.ftp wrote:haha, yeah, but i don't use a bank either.

People make money off money, such is capitalism and economics. It would be in your best interest not because other people make money off your money, but rather, YOU make more money off your money (ever heard of APY/APR?).
Think about it...
