Interested... A Few Questions

Post by Tkmstr1009 »

Hi,

I am currently renting a dedicated server from Hypernia and I am interested in switching to NFo, however I just have a few inquiries.

1. Just out of pure curiosity, do you hear many bad things about Hypernia and do many people come here from them?

2. One of the main reasons I may switch over his random lag spikes. It is very frustrating for all of your clients to be knocked off during a spike to over 9000 ping

3. Just plain support, which Hypernia lacks, and it pisses me off. They always blame the problems on you and pretty much leave you hanging.

However, one of the things I DO like about Hypernia is how I can retain Remote Desktop Access even if I have EA Ranked Servers installed on my box. Does NFo offer this as well? Hell, do you even allow RDS? I know of GSP's that don't...

Also, another gripe about Hypernia is that they lack a "control panel" for a dedicated servers customers. All configuration, even game server installs, are done the messy way and usually screw up. Some GSPs have a control panel with "easy install" and "remote reboot" and that good stuff. I really hate going into RDS just to reboot my box.

All the while, I'm not saying they're a bad company. Just not for me, I'm leaning towards going to NFo.

Thanks,
Jon.

I haven't heard much about the company you mentioned, but we don't have any problems with lag spikes here. We have a basic control panel that can be used to reboot a server, but it does not have the ability to install game servers (for that, you'd have to look at 3rd-arty solutions such as TCadmin).

Remote desktop is the preferred method of connecting to our dedicated servers. Technically your provider is breaking its agreement with EA over the BF2 dedicated server access (EA is very strict about it and doesn't even allow providers to give FTP access to ranked servers). We can't run BF2 ranked servers here, so we don't have to worry about it.

NFo is by far the best provider, my server is ranked # 28 in the US :)
Well It went up to 33 few days ago.
I went with NFo because they are the best.
They have the lowest pings, plus you can't beat their Live Chat support which starts around 9am - 12/1am.

Overall I love NFo, been with them for few years and we have 3 servers with them.

They do offer free trials, you might want to try it out, if you don't like it, you can cancel the service within the trial period without being billed for.
I say go for it.
