HLDS Error

Post by rustydusty1717 »

Been getting this error for almost a year now I believe. Even got it when I was running my own dedicated from my home. Anyways, the error occurs sometimes on reboot and even the inital start. Only way around it is to just kill the process and start the whole process over. Kind of a pain if the server crashes and goes to reboot, but fails to start. Error seems to be happening on CentOS and Fedora Core. Not sure about Gentoo though. Anyone else heard of another fix or another OS that it doesn't occur on? I would like to stay with Linux, not a big fan of windows.

A lot of things can cause a segfault (it's a pretty general error). I'd recommend installing gdb and using the -debug option -- this should show you some more information on what might be happening.

The most common cause for crashes would be plugins. If you haven't checked without plugins, you might try testing that configuration as well.

I know it's something with metamod or amxx. I've tried just a plain amxx and metamod install and still does it, so it's not an addon plugin that I have installed. Hopefully amxx or metamod fix the issue, whichever the problem is. Just wondering who else is having the same problem, and if it occurs on every linux OS. Not really a huge deal, I just manually reboot the servers every 7 days and they're usually fine.
