Since you guys have had some experience with running Bad Company 2 Beta on your servers I have a few questions to ask.
1. Are your Bad Company 2 Beta servers on, Shared Box's, VPS's, or Dedicated box for each server.
2. How is the hardware handling this new engine type? Does it tax the system a lot more than source, or COD engine?
3. Did you guys know there is a beta server admin program out for GSP's http://bfbc2admin.com/ ???? And have you had any experience with it?
Thanks
Jason

Re: Your Bad Company 2 Servers
Our servers are run on our general game server hosting system. This means that they benefit from the same control panel, load-balancing systems, monitoring systems, and so on, as other game servers, and we can ensure that they have the highest performance at all times, allowing us to fulfill our performance guarantee.jasonelmore wrote:Since you guys have had some experience with running Bad Company 2 Beta on your servers I have a few questions to ask.

It's similar to other recent game releases like L4D and TF2. In comparison to CoD4 or CoD5, it's a bit more taxing on the CPU but less memory intensive.2. How is the hardware handling this new engine type? Does it tax the system a lot more than source, or COD engine?
Yes, I saw this last week when it was a placeholder site. Looking at it again now, I see that they've progressed quite a bit. From the screen shots, it appears to currently be a simple interface to the rcon system for the game (similar to what will be possible through our control panel), and I look forward to seeing where they take it from here -- hopefully into the realm of automated admin features, such as timed messages, automatic banning for spam, etc. It's good to see 3rd party guys working to develop for this game.3. Thanks for your answers man, Did you know dice has published the protocol? I uploaded the pdf for ya incase you want to take a look at it. It's version R5 right now. I'd like to be able to try it on but i dont have rcon access to a beta server, so I can't.
You can maybe get a head start on the stuff you need to integrate into your cpanels.
Anyways, here it is.

Yes. This protocol was previously private and available to RSPs, so I already have systems developed around it.jasonelmore wrote:Thanks for your answers man, Did you know dice has published the protocol?
Nod, that is because the latest server release is also version R5. DICE comes out with modified documents for each server release. It's version R5 right now.
Incidentally, R5 has some major performance and other bugs, so I wouldn't actually recommend playing on an R5 server. All of ours are RC4 (the prior version) right now.

Nod. The version of the documentation is linked to the server release version, and they released server version R6 today. We are currently in the process of testing this release.
