PS3 setup

Post by kimco »

I rent a server from a re-seller here (I think that is the correct terminology). I set up PsychoStats correctly on my website, but am unable to connect to the game server to get my logfiles.
Any help would be appreciated.

In the PsychoStats admin page:
Host: 66.151.138.162
Port: 21 (have tried 27015 as well)
Log Path: "/hlcs_12/cstrike/logs/"

After clicking the Test button, It goes to a blank page, no error.

I can ftp to my server.
I cannot connect to my server through PsychoStats.
I cannot ftp://connect to my server through a browser.
- Returns this error:
425 Can't open data connection
Instructions:
FTP/SFTP log sources
At Protocol, select ftp or sftp, depending on your server (compare ftp with sftp).

At Log path type the log path to your logs directory, at Host and Port type the hostname and the port number (for ftp, the default port number is 21, while for sftp the default port number is 22). If ftp is selected, at Passive Mode? select Yes/No depending on your host's ftp server (select Yes if you are not sure). At Username type your user login. If you need to provide a password, untick Use Blank Password and type your password in Password and in Retype Password. At Skip Last Log? you should select Yes since the last log may sometimes be incomplete, select No if you do not want the last log to be skipped.

Click the Test button when you are finished. If there is a problem, you will see Testing results turn red and the error explained in the box. If everything is OK, click Save and the logsource is done.

For Log path I have tried
/hlcs_12/cstrike/logs/
hlcs_12/cstrike/logs/
/hlcs_12/
/cstrike
"left log path blank"
66.151.138.162/hlcs_12/cstrike/logs/

Try connecting through your browser like the following:

ftp://username@youripaddress:21/path/to/logs/

If that works, then ftp is indeed working. Wanna make sure FTP is actually working first.

Also, this looks incorrect to me:

Log Path: "/hlcs_12/cstrike/logs/"

Should be this:

Log Path: "/hlds_12/cstrike/logs/"

That may or may not be your problem, depending on if that spelling error is also in your actual log source menu.

Normally the path would need to be cstrike/logs. Also, make sure that passive mode is enabled -- PS3 is picky about that (it looks like you also need to enable it for your client).

Why does passive mode need to be on? I've never had it on, no problems here.

Here's a screenshot of what mine looks like. Not sure if it's gonna help you or not, but it's there anyways.

I've always needed to use it here, but YMMV. He should try both ways, I guess.

Here is a screen shot from Core FTP which is what I normally use for FTP and can successfully connect to my game server.
Log Path: "/hlcs_12/cstrike/logs/"

If your logs folder really is "/hlcs_12/cstrike/logs/", then you're not being hosted on our shared system. You must be on a dedicated server or VDS, and he likely has things set up differently than we do. You will need to talk to the company you are renting from about this.

I am wondering if it has to do with the fact that there are multiple servers on the box and/or some port has to be opened by the owner of the box?

Edit Log Source page before hitting Test button.

After Processing, it just changes to a completely blank white page. No error.

The IP block is ours, and we own the hardware and bandwidth, but you didn't purchase the server from us and we don't control the software at all on dedicated servers. You need to talk to the guy you're paying :).

Since neither the game server nor the webhosting is hosted with us, more variables are involved, and it's more difficult for me to troubleshoot from here. You might consider posting in the PS forums, where they have more experience with a wide range of configurations.

Here are some things to look at:

* Whether your webhosting has a firewall that is blocking the connection. This is fairly common.

* Whether your game server host allows passive mode connections. If not, have him turn them on.

* Whether it works without the trailing "/" in the path name.
