Server Cancelled after 2 day trial period?

Post by Gossamer »

I paid NFO $109.99 for the 3 core VDS. All was going well, got everything finally configured.

Just got kicked from RDP, web server is down and I look at paypal and it said there was a reversal for the $109.99 after the payment completed?

As far as I know I did not cancel the server and I was kinda wondering why I was refunded and my server was closed down. If the HDD of my server was whiped, I'm going to be severly angry as I just spent my weekend working on it.

Mar 28, 2010 Reversal From NuclearFallout Enterprises Completed Details $109.99 USD
Mar 28, 2010 Payment To NuclearFallout Enterprises Reversed Details -$109.99 USD
Mar 28, 2010 Reversal From NuclearFallout Enterprises Completed Details $109.99 USD
So it looks like NFO reversed us.... then charged us.... then reversed it.

It looks like you're quoting your Paypal account, and reversals in Paypal mean that Paypal (not us) stopped the payment from going through and returned it to you. You will need to call Paypal to ask them why this happened. You can also contact us and we can try to investigate from our end, though we have more limited access than you would to your account.

When a payment is reversed, either through a Paypal action or because of a credit card chargeback, the service has to be shut down.

It couldn't be a credit card chargeback as it's coming from the paypal account balance which has more than enough money to go through (as it already tried to pay before).

Of course paypal doesn't notify me of anything nor does it give details into why it was reversed.

Please tell me HDD on the server has NOT been whiped.

Understood. I was just generalizing to make it more relevant for others :).

I would recommend calling them on this. You can also contact us directly through the "Help!" link in your control panel, and we can assist you with how to retry the payment (such as through a credit card instead of Paypal).

Whenever a server is shut down, it is automatically saved in the same state that it was while running. It remains saved for at least two weeks on our side, ready to be immediately reactivated.

I can't call them right now, but I will try soon.

I don't know if you didn't realize but it says Reversal From NFO, not the other way around. You guys might want to check your end.

If you want us to check things on our end, you'll need to contact us through "Help!". This problem is highly specific to you, so forums aren't really appropriate for it.

The only thing we could do from our end is a refund. We can't do reversals, as I said before -- those are always triggered externally, by Paypal or a bank. From the language you quoted, Paypal is just telling you the merchant that the reversal is associated with.
