What would you recommend for a anti virus client on a vds, that would not effect the gameservers

I would not recommend running an antivirus on a VDS, unless you are using it as a client -- surfing the web, downloading new applications, etc. If you are just using it as a server, and you aren't running anything that is not trusted or viewing any webpages, the chance of catching a virus is very slim and the performance overhead isn't usually worth it.

If you wish to run an antivirus, Microsoft's AV is generally a good, free choice: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
