Hi everyone,
I'm new to this whole server rental thing. I'd like to rent a Doom 3 server, now the only thing I need to know about is how will I be interacting with that server ? Can I install maps and mods, can I uninstall them ? Can I reinstall the whole game? How do I access and mess around with the server in general ?
And what type of connection will be offered ? I'm looking for a 4 player Doom 3 server for the LMS mod.
Thanks

Re: Questions about user interface and access
The control panel that we have will be the central way of accessing the server. From it, you can access files, stop or start the server, and a few other things. There is an option included to schedule a server wipe, which deletes the entire server and re-installs it from scratch, as if it was a brand new server.
You will have access to add and delete map files and mod files. Some mods may be more complex and require assistance from us. There is also an option to contact support and receive responses located in the control panel, should you ever need help.
Like all of our game servers it will be on a 100Mb/s connection or better, so there is plenty of bandwidth.

Hey there. I have not seen you responding to this forum. Not sure if you have received help from our support request system or not. So if you need anything at all feel free to let us know and we will do our best here or there to help.
Request system is generally the fastest way for help but the forums are good for harder questions where another user may actually be able to help too
See ya soon

Hey,
I've got some fantastic help and support (and blazing fast) from Brendan, one of the customer support members.
Everything is clear to me now and I'm looking forward to start my subscription.
The only problem I'm facing now is the credit card thing. I'm not in the country right now and I thought you could order a server with PayPal. Turned out thats not the case and you actually need a credit card. I will get that taken care of as soon as I get back. In case there is a way for me to pay the 12 month fee with Paypal, please let me know.
And thanks for asking, the support NFO offers really seems to be top notch and is ultimatley the reason why I'll stick with you guys, even though I've found even cheaper GSPs. But you just can't beat service like this!
Thanks! Can't wait to get my server!

Hope I was helpful. Did the credit card idea pan out?
Also just so you are aware for a multi month like your looking for you will need to do 1 month to month then upgrade to the 12 months (basically building a payment relationship with NFo) This is for fraud purposes and our system locks it out with out that. (Of course assuming you are a first time customer at NFo)
Any other questions feel free to open a request or reply to your old one. Or if in no hurry reply to the forums

Talk to you soon

Oh thats you, always working huh

I might be able to use a credit card from a friend before I get back. He was gonna apply for one anyway. I can't really say when at this point, but I'm def. working on it.
I'm sure you'll hear from me again with lots of questions once I get my hands on a server.
Thank you
