CSS slot question for vps

Post by canogiga »

I have the 2 core setup, my question is how many severs can i host with 32 slots.
counter strike source. I know it states it can handle 3-6 game servers but that would be small ones right?

The pop-up help on the order page probably states:
If you plan to run game servers, expect near the low end of this range for large, busy servers, and near the upper end of this range for small or less-popular servers.

This is an estimate only. Keep in mind that you can always upgrade or downgrade the package after you order, should you need more or less power.
To tailor this to your specific situation, Orangebox servers that are larger than 30 slots are piggy on CPU, from what customers have told me, meaning that they are sensitive to even the minor overhead of virtualization. I'd recommend running these very large servers either on a Linux managed VDS (as it is closest to bare hardware) or through our regular game server ordering system. You should dedicate a core to each server, if you expect for them to fill up.

just what i need to know I am running a gg server set to 32 slots that is maxed out all the time and with that server i have 4 other servers along with a surf server set to 20 which is also maxed out all the time then ower pub which is as high as 24 and the server stays around 60 to 65% cpu usage.
So i might switch to linix

If you're running all of those servers well on a dual-core already, that's pretty hard to beat :). I'm not sure that you can really get any better than that.
