FPX flux

Post by haynakoo »

I'm running my game servers on a single core Windows 2k8 x64 R2 at 1000FPS each with srcdsfpsboost and they're having huge fps fluctuations. I run a fps meter on one of the game servers(I have 3 running currently). 26,20,12 max slots consecutively all are cs 1.6. Does running them at 500fps will give me a better stability? How do I do that without switching to Win 2k3? Here's the result of the fps meter I run just before I post this topic: Image

What should I do to fix this?

Running at 500fps with HPET disabled would likely result in a little less flux, yes. Also, running fewer servers would help -- what sort of CPU usage are you seeing with all of these ones online and busy?

Do you see the same fluctuations without plugins enabled?

Are you running your servers at high CPU priority?

When one server has a map change, you will likely also see a FPS drop on the other servers, due to it needing the entire core to do so. This is why we have always used multiple-core machines here at NFO, throughout our history (and they definitely weren't common, or cheap, in 2001).

I was running all of them on real-time priority. I figured it will be better than I run all 3 on high priority. I changed them all to high priority and running fps meter as I type this. I will post the new result later when it finished.

Meanwhile, how do make the game servers run on 500fps? also how do i disable HPET?

This is my server usage

You should avoid real-time priority, as it can cause issues. High is the most you should do.

To run them at 500fps, just turn off HPET through your "Server control" page. Without HPET, Win2k8 R2 supports 500fps at most.

I was asking about CPU usage -- that's your bandwidth usage :). You can see your CPU usage through the task manager inside your VDS.
