General VPS location question

Post by canogiga »

I got a vps with Gungame on it and its maxed out almost 24/7 32 slot. I get allot of players from Europe, AU, Asia, They have pings that range from 200 to 500ms I have high ping kicker on the server, but my question is if i put a vps in NY would they get a better ping. When they join the Dallas server the start to lag it.

It's difficult to balance latencies for such a diverse worldwide group. If you move your server to NYC, your EU players will ping better, but both AU and Asian players will likely ping worse =\.

Have you considered having two servers? :)

Of our VDS locations, San Jose would likely be best for Asians and Aussies. NYC would be best for the EU.
