DDoS Attacks
So what's the whole plan with the DDoS attacks? I'm quite certain I know who the customer in Seattle is, that is getting hit so hard. Is NFO certain that this new router will be able to block the attacks? I noticed the other night when I was scrimming on my server there was 2 slight pauses where everyone froze. I would imagine that was part of the attacks. Is this such a big attack it's affecting the whole data center? Any info would be great.

Re: DDoS Attacks
I posted an Event to all of our Seattle customers that goes into it a bit more in depth than our FB post.
The bottom line is that DDoS attacks can't be stopped without cutting off the customer, which we don't want to do, if it can be avoided. Our current router isn't fast enough to process traffic from the attacks, so they are hurting other customers at the location. We're upgrading to a new router that should be around 5 times as fast and this should allow us to better defend against them.

Re: DDoS Attacks
So the new router will have no issues with the attacks? I haven't seen a huge impact on my VDS, just a few minor pauses. Just want to make sure this will be the last impact I see of the attacks. This must be quite the attack to affect a whole router. Whoever is doing it, should definently get a life, as it is affecting my gaming one.Edge100x wrote:I posted an Event to all of our Seattle customers that goes into it a bit more in depth than our FB post.

Re: DDoS Attacks
So the new router just couldn't handle the attack. It must be quite the attack to crash a router. Hopefully this get's fixed fairly fast, as I was in the middle of a scrim on my server when it went down.

Re: DDoS Attacks
Yes, we were very disappointed to see that the router change didn't help :\.
The customer's server is blocked for the time being. When I get into the office again next week, I'll be investigating Cisco and other "true L3" switch options, which could easily handle the traffic.

Re: DDoS Attacks
So hopefully soon no more attacks? Is there an legal action being taken? With the size of the attacks, it must be a group of people doing the attacks. Whoever is doing it, should be taken down. They are affecting a business and customers, and not to mention all the nerds who can't play on their servers!
