Re: Unmanaged VDS
No, just complaints of why your server is laggy I tell them its the map, but as more people complain I just had to post it here.
Re: Unmanaged VDS
Hopefully it's not an attack then.
Did you set the server up using the guide we provide, and the default files that we provide? What edition of Windows are you running, and have you tried any others? We use Win2k3 here for our Windows servers.

Re: Unmanaged VDS
Yeah, using Windows 2008 R2, and the default files sourcebase
Re: Unmanaged VDS
Is the server-side FPS dipping when people are complaining?
Trying a different OS is certainly still an option, as is possibly trying with HPET off, but I don't usually see problems with Win2k8 R2.

Re: Unmanaged VDS
Well I open srcdsfpsboost first then my servers.
Is there a way to fix this but not changing OS?
If I do lets say change my OS will my files/server stuff be saved?

Re: Unmanaged VDS
Without knowing more about measurable concerns, I don't know =\. But one thing you can try would be turning off or on HPET. We could also move you to a new physical machine, if you wish to try that, though I don't think this would be related to the virtualization.mattb wrote:Is there a way to fix this but not changing OS?
No, a new install would wipe your virtual hard drive. If I do lets say change my OS will my files/server stuff be saved?
Re: Unmanaged VDS
Well it shows on my Servers Tickrate: 67
How can I give you information for that?
What is that?
I'll try that and get back to you with info.
thanks,
Code: Select all

Re: Unmanaged VDS
HPET is the High Performance Event Timers option for VDS servers. You can find the option on the "server control" section of the control panel, specifically at the very bottom after clicking to expand for more options.
As for measurable information, knowing what the server FPS is doing, choke/loss/ping issues shown in the net_graph in game, and perhaps CPU and RAM of the VDS will give us more information to look at. These should be checked while the problem is happening, rather than when everything is fine.
We also have a lag troubleshooting guide that may help here: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =25&t=3930

Re: Unmanaged VDS
Got this info from typing net_graph 3
fps: 109
in: 207
out: 72
choke: 0
loss: 0
lerp: 100.0.ms
Players pings remain low or normal and it seemed to lagg
Now it was lagging/delay on my server with a map that we always play and was always ok I think the server has been up for 5 hours and it over heats or something the way I fix this lagg/delay is that I restart the server, but I can't keep doing that.

Re: Unmanaged VDS
You left out some pretty important numbers, actually
.
From net_graph 4, you should monitor the lower-left hand number (server FPS) and the the "in" and "out" per-second numbers (not the ones on the left, but on the right). Choke and loss are important as well, and it's good that yours are 0.
The server won't overheat, so no worries about that.

Re: Unmanaged VDS
This crash would be due to a bug in the game or a plugin. We can troubleshoot that as well, but it is a separate concern from your performance issue, so we should talk about it separately.
Re: Unmanaged VDS
Well could we talk about the crash? Is it the game?
Re: Unmanaged VDS
It would be either the game or a plugin, most likely. What messages show in the console immediately before the crash?
Re: Unmanaged VDS
hmm nothing I leave the server running then I went to login into the vds and the server was down and this sort of prompt was up and it said show details or find an online solution I clicked show details and gave you that error. Is there a file I can get the error message from?
