Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
Hopefully... someone has some knowledge on this. I thought it would be simple to set up and once I payed... i got extremely confused.
I am using windows 7 x64 os.
I also have the files i want to use for my server on my desktop.
Any help would be freaking awesome because as of right now, it has been a long and upsetting day.

Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
I don't run mine on Windows, but maybe try this guide: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutor ... p_a_server
or one on the official forums.

Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
If you've successfully set up the server locally, it is mostly a matter of uploading those files to the server now. One easy way to do this is to log in through Remote Desktop and copy them over from your personal hard drive; to get your hard drive to show up inside Windows Explorer on the VDS, make sure that you edit the RD options and tell it to share your local hard drive(s) before you connect.
Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
Oh, in that guide, when it says: java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar
you can change those numbers depending on how much ram you have (I like to leave a gig for the OS and other things I run).

Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
Right on guys, I was pretty close earlier then, but for some reason on the server os from control panel it said java was not found or something like that. Any idea?
Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
Java isn't installed by default, so you'd need to install it from the Oracle site. You can download it (using the web browser on the VDS) here: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
You guys were all very helpfull thanks! But I do have one new problem that seems to be keeping me inches from being 100% there. For some reason on the server os it tells me I need to upgrade my graphics card?? I can play it fine straight from the Desktop. Any ideas?
Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
Actually, here is the exact message.
Bad video card drivers!

Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
Are you sure that you are running the Minecraft server, and not the client? The page that j0rd0n420 linked to talks more about this and where to find it.
Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
Yeah looks like you're trying to run the client version. Go here and on the bottom of the page you can download the server software: http://minecraft.net/download.jsp
You can probably use the .exe version since you're on Windows.

Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
Yeah, it is the server_nogui_x64.bat file inlcuded with the Hey0 Server mod. It is the exact same file setup as before thats why i am so confused. If I used the exe. I will not have any of my server mods that were implemented recently.
Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
I have no idea what's up than, sorry.

Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
I tried the exe and it crashed quick
Re: Setting up VDS for Minecraft.
