We are trying out of dedicated server, but our server guru is MIA. So me and another pilot are trying to make it run this is what we have so far. We are renting a VDS from nfo servers.
Need help setting up our Rise of flight game server on vds. Dserver the program the server uses to set up server seems to work fine and we get game server showing up on mission list. It lets game users connect but not enter into game server. Mission files are confirmed to be working. Players get kicked out just at the end of the loggin in process.
Must be something we have not set up right in Ms server 2008 for allowing rise of flight users to enter our vds trough the game interface?
Greatfull for any help.
Our server guru MIA now what? need help please.

I have no experience with Rise of Flight, myself, but this sounds like a configuration problem with the game server application itself, and not the OS.
On the OS side, though, you should make sure that no firewall is running.

Thanks for fast reply. Will look over it again, the firewall is not running so that can not be it. And our server is comunicateing good with the master server for Rise of flight just fine. This is what lead me to belive I had something set up wrong. I have absolutely zero experience with vds or the os.

If I do not run with firewall I do not need to open ports right? I need the following open TCP=28000, TCP=28100, TCP=21000, TCP=21001, UDP=28000, UDP=21000

I'd recommend testing without the firewall for now. Once you get things working, you could try a firewall and opening ports, but it's still not generally recommended, for performance reasons.
I do not know anything about that game personally, I'm sorry =\. Maybe a community member will be able to chip in with more info, or you might try posting in the forums for the game.
