does anyone else notice how the problem begins with the prefix "svc?" svchost.exe is a system process belonging to the Microsoft Windows Operating System which handles processes executed from DLLs. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated. svchost.exe is also a process which is registered as the W32.Welchia.Worm. It takes advantage of the Windows LSASS vulnerability, which creates a buffer overflow and instigates your computer to shut down. This welchia worm may not have anything to do with the error but it seems as though maybe svc_ prefix is trying to tell us that maybe a DLL is having problems sending or recieving information as svchost manages processes belonging to DLLS? It is my theory that svchost may also have something to do with this little concoction.

I've tried that plugin from booya but unfortunately it doesnt change anyone's cvars to cl_dlmax 96 at all. It's loaded and running correctly.

any help would be appreciated since it kicks out everyone on our 32 man server at least 6 or 7 times a day. very frustrating.

I just updated the plugin to where it works with amxmodx v1.6.
Download it HERE. [Source Code]
Again, this isn't a guaranteed fix, but it seems like it helps to some extent.

Seems to me this only happens when server have extra mods installed, mods that include sounds and stuff like SuperHero MOd, or maps with a lot of sounds... cuz i always get that svc_bad on the map gahhhhh since it has too many sounds

Yep, whenever there's a mod running that creates more stuff for the server to send, you can expect to see this happening more often.

I would use theirs. You can download my compiled version of it here, under AMXX 1.60.

Hello. I have been supporting a plugin called Deags Map Manager that seems to cause this issue a lot in the linux servers. Their are definite ways to lessen the expectancy of this bug tho.

If you read MAUGHOLD's 2 posts Here

Here is another few tips

WOW, I didn't this old post by Bmann, But I just Have to say that I am the MAUGHOLD that made those post's a long time ago and they really did almost completely stop that damn SVC_bad error. I went from having them 5 or 6 times a week to having them once or twice every 3 months.

Also: According to all of the server admins on the hlds linux mailing list and everywhere else I searched on the web, The svc_bad errors are mostly caused by hlds running out of the memory that it uses to execute text files. So the more text files, INI .txt .cfg's you're running, the more you will see this error.

I've been watching and posting to the mailing list for 10 years or so and there's a lot of confusion on what causes these. It's still the case that nobody (even Valve) really knows what does it, unfortunately.

IIRC, Valve thought they did nail it down and fix it in a recent update, but it continues, sadly.

I was never able to completely get rid of it, but I did reduce it so much that it was never really a problem after all the steps I took. If you happen to read the early posts over on the steam forums about this bug, they fixed the bug about 80% of the time.

Also there were a few post's about this in the old dod forums if you have access to them. I have the entire forum archives from the old dod forums. Got them just before they shut it down.
