I am currently having problems setting up the intial network settings on debian 6 amd64.
Values taken from the IP List tab on the control panel.
IP Address is set the the one specified by NFO
Netmask is correct
Gateway is also correct
No namespace, not sure if I need one.
All i get is
An error occurred and the network configuration process has been aborted. You may retry it from the installation menu.
Anyone else have this problem?

Re: Debian Network Problems
Are you installing Debian manually through a virtual DVD, then?
Did you specify name servers as part of the process? We list a couple of name servers that you can use on the "IP list" page of the control panel.

Re: Debian Network Problems
Yes im installing a net install manually.
Yes a specififed a name server. Both the first and the second, specifying either of those does not work.
Yes, i just tried adding them again, Same error occurs.

Re: Debian Network Problems
Without a more specific error from the Debian installer, it's very difficult to know what might be going on here. I haven't tried installing Debian 6 myself, just Debian 5.
Would the Ubuntu autoinstaller also meet your needs? I know that Ubuntu is falling out of favor recently (for whatever reason), but it is very similar to Debian. With the autoinstaller, we set up the network for you.

Re: Debian Network Problems
Debian does everything, its alot more efficient for a server. Thats why we went with the net install, we only want to install what is absolutely necessary, and the kernal itself fits out needs better.
The actual error says
An error occurred and the network configuration process has been aborted. You may retry it from the installation main menu.

Re: Debian Network Problems
We use the Ubuntu server version, so it's about the same as Debian. Ubuntu is based on Debian, and their packages are compatible; on a server, the main difference is just branding. Both would have the same performance and be equally lean.
It sounds like I will have to work on an autoinstaller later for you, in order to get you past your error in Debian. It just isn't something that I can troubleshoot from here, since that error does not give us much, and I haven't used the Debian 6 installer before to be able to know what direction to point you in.

Re: Debian Network Problems
Well we could circumvent this if all the debian cds were in, we can still run with an expert install, but thats alot of extra space to throw in on there.
We just need initial network connectiont to download the package files.

Re: Debian Network Problems
I looked at this tonight and it appears that the installer for Squeeze is detecting that it's running inside Xen and is trying to do some things that it shouldn't be, making the network card not work correctly. I will have to test further using the full install DVD, instead of the network install.
Re: Debian Network Problems
I found a workaround for the Debian Squeeze glitch and created an autoinstall for it. I am rolling out both Lenny and Squeeze as install options across all our machines now.
