Brink questions on unmanaged VDS

Post by TacTicToe »

Nope. Still not showing up in the hldsupdatetool unfortunately. I have a Steam account I use for things like this. Fire it up just long enough to download the server into the Tools section, then copy it over.

Im hoping the hldsupdatetool will be working in time for the server patch.

The hldsupdatetool is how I got the files. Are you sure you have the latest version?

Yea, had to update the tool. They are showing up now. Just cant get the server to launch. Keeps telling me it cant launch unless there are humans on it. How do you get humans on it if it doesnt launch? Makes no sense.

I dont suppose you would be willing to post the config you are using? Or the command line?

Im trying to run it through FireDaemon, using the info from their launch batch files as a template. Of course you have to define the game directory and all, but still doesnt seem to want to launch. Its more of a bugger then ETQW was.

Try this before the spawnserver line:

si_maxplayershuman 16

These files are definitely rushed. I wish they'd let us at least superficially examine them before the last day, so point out some of these glaring problems.

I wholeheartedly agree! I all but begged for days for either the server files or at least the config info. I knew I would be spending half the night going through crap like this instead of playing.

Their included docs include many useful facets, but not all the tips and tricks. We cover many common questions in our KB, though (as well as link to the PDF): http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=66

That PDF is about as useful as a Condom vending machine in the Vatican.

I found a problem here. The PDF says to use

net_allowServerHijacking 0

But you stated to use

net_serverAllowHijacking 0

Seems you are correct John, and the PDF is well, I already said what is useful as.
