If I wanted to add 5 GB or whatever is allowed of SSD to my unmanaged VDS, would this be possible? If so, what steps would be required to be taken to get this done?
I am curious and seeing as I know the performance of SSD over a traditional hard drive from my personal PC, it seems right especially for many of the new games being released.

Re: SSD Question
At most locations, it's possible to add 5 GB of SSD space. Please contact us directly through the "Help" page in your control panel and we can check your situation more specifically.
Most games don't benefit from an SSD, because they don't use the disk very much. Typically, game servers read from the disk to load the map and configuration data when a map is loaded, and write to the disk to save logs during gameplay. Traditional hard drives work just as well as SSDs for loading maps, and the OS is able to effectively cache those small log writes most of the time.
Minecraft is the primary exception to this, as it reads and writes quite frequently.

Re: SSD Question
Much appreciated for the response, I figured that with the way games were progressing the demand on hard drive response and read / write times was a factor.
I do know Minecraft is insanely hard drive intensive as everything I have read online for it, lagging up the machine it runs on if it is not suitable as well. I will check on whichever game or games I was looking towards running to see if this would be a benefit, but I do not see how it could hurt as a "just in case".
