Alright so, ever since you guys did that update last night we've been having this weird issue with our CS:S servers.
Basically, we use the GlobalBan mod to handle all of our bans. It normally works great, and we can control bans across all servers at once with a nice web interface.
Now just today, it's not working correctly. Anytime the map changes, the servers go unresponsive for about a minute or so, then it finally loads. I noticed that when the server starts, or loads a map, it hangs at this for about a minute:
unable to update local steamclient.dll
Failed to load Steam ServiceServiceStart: failed to startMap Changing
When I tried to update the CS:S server, it says this...
Failed to connect to any GeneralDirectoryServer, errno 115 "Operation now in progress"
For awhile it was still running the servers, now one won't even start up at all. We disabled all addons, still not working. I'm out of ideas.
We're running ubuntu 10.04
Weird problem

Re: Weird problem
It sounds like Steam is getting confused about something. It could be that your install is corrupted, or that Steam still thinks that another copy of your server is still connected. Did you also try with a completely fresh install?
Also, are all of the IPs on your machine working correctly (can they be pinged, can you log in with SSH, and so on)? Do you have all firewalls and security software turned off?

Re: Weird problem
We haven't tried a fresh install yet, as that's sort of our last resort.
Yeah we only have, and use one IP. We can ssh, and ping perfectly fine.
I guess I'll have a night of reinstalling everything from scratch.
If I'm going to bother doing that, I'll probably switch operating systems.
Which Windows Server 2008 is the right one to choose for best performance?

Re: Weird problem
I mean a fresh install of just the game server component -- downloading another copy of CS:S to a different folder, and running that. It would be a very good test to make.
Windows 2008 R2 is the newer of the two Windows 2008 flavors, but either one should work about the same in terms of performance. Windows 2003 would also be similar, but has a little less overhead, so for a 500fps server, it might be better.
