Alright need some help

i have some experience with setting up servers I used to be with game servers. I been tryin to put myself as admin, i put my steam ID and 99:z into admin simple ini

and admin core even

but every time I try to connect to my server it says "your name is reserved by sourcemod " "set your password so you can use it" or something. I was able to connect before but now that i try to make myself Admin it just says that and wont let me join.

i heard i have to mess with PassInfoVar" in the core CFG or something.

I didnt used to have to do this, I just put my info into admin simple INI and i could join into my game and access the SM Menu etc.


any help much appreciated.

It sounds like you mistakenly set your name to also be reserved or require a password, in addition to setting yourself as admin. Only the admins_simple.ini file needs to be edited, so if you made changes in other files, you will want to revert those changes. Also, did you enter just a single line in the ini file with your SteamID and z:99 only?

cool well i deleted some of the extra lines i had from before in teh admin simple.ini

and I think i took off everything on the admin.cfg (i dont really know how to revert changes so i just have to go back and reset stuff manually)

i also changed the passinfovar stuff i messed with back to original I think

i left one line on the admin simple ini

"STEAM_1:0:14" "99:z"

good news - i can connect to my server with HLSW
but now it says I have no access to SM commands and wont recognize me

I think im doing something wrong in admin simple.ini
i just put(i think im putting in the right part of my steam ID, kinda confusing)
"STEAM_1:0:14" "99:z"

BUT on the instr of the adminsimple.ini it says i can also add something like
"!127.0.0.1" "99:z"

is that just like your home IP or something? thanks for help

i tried something new i went into the server typed status

got the whole steam id and put it in there

"STEAM_1:0:14 "99:z"
"STEAM_1:0:14755148" "99:Z"

it still wont work though, is it the "", i must be doing something wrong in the adminsimple.

I can still join however, and input commands via HLSW

I also dont want to jeopradize it being a public server ppl can join even while im not there, since i have accidentally done that before(im not that good at all this but im learning)

UPDATE UPDATE i got it to work on my own. I beleive i had one to many digits on my steam number perhaps? maybe it was something else i changed, but i can join and access admin. guess im not as dumb as i thought, or mayb i am.

Not gonna lie ill probly be back here again cause im not that good with all this, but thanks for the help i wouldnt be able to even log on if it wasnt for yall.

It looks like you accidentally had a capital "Z" in there, so that's probably what it was
