Debian 6 help

Post by xedg3 »

Hello, we've recently switched to Debian 6 and we're suffering from unstable internet and massive lag since our move. We have tried to reinstall the system and it's exactly the same. We've got experience on Linux, there's no X installed just srcds and mumble. It never used to lag on Windows 2k8. I know NFo does not offer any kind of help to unmerged servers, but we paid for a 100 mb internet connection and we're not getting half of it assuming that we can't even play on our own server, and most of us reside in the same location as the machine. NY.

All of our locations are 1GBps besides Denver which is still running on 100MBps. What kind of issues are you seeing exactly? When testing your download speed or connection how exactly are you testing it? As far as CPU/ram usage how much are you using? Also what kind of VDS plan do you have?
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

Before you delve too far into other troubleshooting, I recommend trying what I mention in this KB article: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =47&t=4888

Past that, Kraze has some good starting questions. We need to nail down the exact problem here (latency? packet loss? jitter? something that's not even network-related?) and then hone in on the issue. MTR output might also be helpful for this.
