Post by mattb »

How to know if a server is running at 500fps or 1000fps, aswell as 100tick, 66tick?

You can check the FPS rate through "rcon stats" on a GoldSrc/Source/Orangebox server. The tickrate for Source/Orangebox servers varies from game to game but is locked at 66 for CS:S and TF2.

Yes, that command works through the rcon tool. Simple "stats" will also work there. There's also an FPS graph function in the control panel for managed servers.

I think win2k3 servers are stuck at 255fps while Win2K8 R2 servers will run at 500fps. I was checking our servers last night.
A small exe file called srcdsfpsboost.exe would make win2k3 servers run at 500+ fps, only way to do that is if you run unmanaged VDS/Full machine.

Win2k3 can run HL1 servers at up to 500 FPS. Orangebox servers run at half this because of Valve's recent interim change to the way FPS works in that engine: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =44&t=5473

Win2k8 / Win2k8 R2 with HPET enabled doubles these numbers.

srcdsfpsboost.exe is no longer needed for Orangebox games, as Valve flips the switch to cause the same functionality. It is still needed for HL1, and the numbers above assume you are running it. On a managed server, we do.
