Any specials?

This is used for general discussion that is not necessarily server-related.

Any specials?

Post by SpazShot »

Hey I was wondering if you guys have any currently active deals, specials, or coupons available? I've looked around and haven't found anything currently active as far as I know. I'm trying to switch off of my current host which is very laggy and just has horrible datacenter issues. This is what I'm looking to purchase from NFO:

• 32 Slot CSS Server
• 15 Slot Ventrilo

It comes out at $51.73 and I'm trying to see if there is anyway I can knock that price down a bit as my budget is cutting it but I really want to experience your services! :(

I am not aware of any specials or deals going on at the moment. However if you would like to test our services we offer a free two day trial to new customers.

Okay how would I go about this two day trial for a CSS server?

You would just order a server normally. If you qualify then the confirmation page will tell you that you do. If so set up a payment source and start the subscription.

Yeah I've noticed. I'm on the 2 day trial and today is my last day and I'm a-okay with it! Excellent performance and the support is super fast!

If I want to keep the server I just let it be as far as now right? It'll automatically charge me after this 2 day trial right? I want to keep it so I hope it's all good?

That is correct, just let it be and the charge attempt will happen automatically. :)

Awesome! Thanks! Also another question:

If I wanted to host a few CSS, GMOD, TF2, and minecraft servers on a VDS/VPS from NFO which is the best setup you would recommend? I've only ran one dedicated box from another hosting company and it was super easy and simple, I'm not sure about anything from NFO though.

I was looking at the Two Core package cause I defiantly want to run another CSS server and a Minecraft server for sure but TF2 and GMOD maybe later, not too sure on those games.

That would largely depend on which OS you are most comfortable with and what size servers (and other details) you plan on running. The larger or more intense your servers are, the more system resources you will need.

Was there something more specific you were wanting to know about the setup?

I had windows for the OS of the other dedicated box I ran but it was super easy just one click installs in the control panel. I never used remote desktop.

I want all servers to be 32 slot servers except for the minecraft - 10 slot or around there.

Example:
• 32 slot 24/7 Dust2 pub
• 32 slot minigames server
• 32 slot 24/7 scoutzknivez
etc.

I just wanted to know what package and options I should have when ordering from NFO. Probably at most run about 4 or 5 servers on the VPS/VDS. Nothing competitive such as scrim servers or 1000 fps servers. Standardish servers.

Do you expect to have all the slots full on all the servers at the same time, or will the population generally be less? You can run a typical 32 slot server per core on the VDS, and the Minecraft server will likely need a core of its own. If not all the slots are going to be full at once, you may be able to get away with less.

As for OS choice, it isn't very critical so you can just choose what you most prefer. The one exception is if you plan on going with a managed VDS, instead of unmanaged. With Managed, only Linux will support Minecraft servers at this time.

The population will generally be less, probably not full or even close. At this time I only want to run the following servers:

• 24/7 Dust2/Office 32 Slot (CSS)
• 10 Slot Minecraft

And have at least 3 more servers available to be ran.

Population has never exceeded 20 on a 32 slot server beside my main server which is paid separate and has nothing to do with a VPS/VDS in this case.

Do you recommend a unmanaged or managed VDS? I'm assuming managed is easier correct? If managed only supports Linux minecraft servers then I would rather go with an unmanaged.

With just those two servers, you may do fine with just a 2-core VDS. Anything more than that would need an upgrade at a later time most likely.

As for your other questions, I would recommend reading through our knowledge base here: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=51
