Question concerning server secruity

Post by Chronic »

Hello everyone,

First off i'm very sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section. I've signed up to the forums around 10mins ago and so there is alot to get used to.

As it says in the subject matter, my question is concerning server secruity...

Currently I am using the 2003 64bit server as I am using it to host a game; However I would like to step up my secruity on it as I do not feel that the normal windows defender (that come with the server) will be able to uphold against any hackers.

I'm very new to 2003 servers as I'm used to R2 standard and so I was woundering if anyone would have any suggestions, links or otherwise to help me increase my security.

For the time being I would like to find a free 'basic' software that protects against hackers and such. I will be more than happy to pay out soon however for the time being free is much prefered.

I have done some web sufering and I have failed to find anything. 2003 seems to be rather out of date these days and so from what i'm seeing (knowing my bad luck i'm looking in the wrong places) I can't find anything compatible.

Thank you in Advance.

I went ahead and moved this to a more suited location.

As for server security, we go over our advice for good security practices in this thread: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =44&t=4025
