Question though. If the web servers are linux; why not make the game servers linux as well? Or vice versa?

John has found through tests that the Window based operating system, along with some of his own code I believe, works best, stable, and whatnot with the gameserver load of mostly Counter-Strike on the dual Xeons.

Linux on the other hand, works great for webservers, using apache like he is, off several Hard Drives I presume :)

John can explain it more himself :D

Yep, as acuraCLS said, Linux is great for webservers but due to the way that HL was coded it does not work as efficiently for HL servers.

What database are you referring to? There is no database on the game servers.

you can use IE, simply click on the FTP link in file manager on the control panel

i was talking about the webserver and the data base was mysql.
