I ran punkBuster.pb_sv_command PB_SV_Update via the console and got an "OK" acknowledgement, I updated PB on my client using pbsetup, and now I get this repeating in the "Server Control" view of NFO's control panel for my server.
PunkBuster Server: Download request for pbag (w 0 -> 1385) from (slot# 1 [0,6]) <myip>:3659 <mybf3user>
PunkBuster Server: Critical Error - Local File c:\servers\stillborn\bf3\pb\htm\wa001385.htm Not Found
These messages repeat a few times until I finally get kicked with this message:
I did the PB setup manually. Added the line to the server and it seems to work as we don't get kicked in a minute (from our server)...BUT now we get kicked from all other servers. Wth is going on with this piece of dung?
PB is in a pretty messed up state right now. This is due to:
* Many clients not having the latest update. The auto-update seems to be widely failing, for some reason.
* R4 servers not having the latest update. The auto-update is also failing on the server side.
* R5 servers *having* the latest update.
* Some RSPs running R5 but running with old PB files, or no PB at all.
All of these combine to make for an inconsistent and unpleasant experience.
In my opinion, the ultimate solution to this will have to involve (a) a pushed-out PB client patch by EA and (b) RSPs being forced to run R5 and the latest PB (which seems to be what they've said already, but we're asking for clarification, and many RSPs are disregarding).
