When?
I dont mean to sound pushy in any way. However, Im getting a ton of people in my IRC channel and others who play on my servers asking when they will be updated to 1.6. So Im just wondering if John or Tomas knows about when they will update. Also so that I have something to tell people in #NFo-support. Please dont take this the wrong way. Just kinda looking for when.
1.6 final has not been released yet as far as I know. Those playing it in Steam are still playing the beta.
In any case, we are still testing the Steam version to ensure it will be installed smoothly on our systems. When we update to that version, it will be in the AM and it we will send out an email the day before.
For now, to play on your server you will still need to play 1.5, using your old HL install.

Affirmative. Steam 1.0 has been released, providing CS 1.6, and many other mod, gameplay. Not beta.
You will find the client here..

We look forward to moving up to CS 1.6 on both servers (TRashED and gettrashed). We thank you for your efforts...

[TRashED]Raalph, Valve has not confirmed that 1.6 as delivered by Steam is the final release. Rather, the company has been extremely careful not to say that and not to answer any questions relating to that.
What Valve has said is that WON will be deactivated in two weeks. That leaves Steam as the only way to play starting in around 13 days, thus (presumably) forcing everyone to use its version of 1.6.

Edge:
I understand your being catious and this is by no means an attack on you or NFo. However, CAL has already given its 1 to 2 week break and if the servers are not updated for 13 days that only gives people who rent from NFo 1 day before CAL resumes assuming they take a 2 week break. Think that may be why everyone is seeming a tad pushy or what have you.

Im not trying to force the issue any harder or lash against NFo, Im just stating why I think some people may be asking or getting confused/upset.
Are you saying though that the servers will not be updated for 13 days, or are you waiting for an official statement from Valve?

I may have missed something, but where did you get the impression that we'd wait the entire time?
My timeframe is closer to 1-2 days, not 13. As I said before, we are still testing the Steam version to ensure it will be installed smoothly on our systems. I am also waiting on an email reply from Valve regarding 1.6.

I just got a reply from Greg Connor of Valve regarding the finality of the current 1.6.
Now that this has been confirmed, we will be proceeding with an upgrade tommorrow morning.Hi, John.
The version of 1.6 currently being distributed via Steam is the final version.
1.5 is still working, and we'll allow a transition period of a couple of weeks before we turn off the master servers for 1.5.
You can go ahead and upgrade now. If you're administering lots of machines, you may want to wait a day or two for the traffic to die down a bit on the Steam network.
-Greg.
Yay for tomorrow morning. I kinda just got the impression from when you said.
