Server Not Filling? Try THIS!! (BF3)

i don't plan to continue my subscription next month until this is fixed. I am not raging and i love nfo servers and the staff here. this is a EA issue. but in the end, it does not make sense pay for a server to be empty, or one i need to baby sit the console all day.

I'm not trying to tell you to keep your subscription here, but hear me out.

The servers (us, the paying customers) who stick it out through these times, are going to be those same servers that are full for the majority of the time. Of course, nothing comes easy in life - even renting a server - you can't expect it to be full 100% of the time.

Heck, Counter-Strike is a prime example of this. If you don't have a clan or community to help you build your Counter-Strike server, chances are you'll never see anyone in that server for more than a few rounds. Reason being is community.

If you "wait until EA fixes it" then you'll be a part of another HUGE influx of servers coming out of all the RSPs. The people who already have their subscriptions, and who are actively doing everything in their power to make their servers "the place to be" will be the full servers. At least that's how Im looking at it.

I know in the end its your choice, but I think if you stick it out right now, you'll reap the rewards in the long run.

Just started using it. I tried adjusting the player count to only reason 32 players instead of 64 but it just says that the player count has been cleared because I'm using the auto adjuster.

tried this, however checked it on battlelog with server being empty, it still shows 0/32 players, should it be showing 8 player slots available or will that happen when someone joins?

If you read the ? it says that the daemon will take effect after a player joins.

I'm very interested to know as well.

I've been testing with one of our servers and it never seems to get above 3/5, which makes me wonder if I need to modify it to make the server 3 or 4 players above the count to get around some Battlelog limitation. (Or, it could just be that people are dropping.)

Just posting this for info purposes.

The last couple of days the server has been full, but about 15 minutes ago I saw the server drop from 64 to 40 in about 5 minutes. No new joins. This wasn't a map change.

I lowered the server count to 48, then 52, then 64 as people started to join again.

Just giving you some data to help figure this out.

One comment I would have is about the auto-scrambler. It is a good idea, but if you do it each round, then some people may be playing the same team twice per map. Some maps are biased towards one side. Would it be possible to auto scramble at each new map, or does it do that already?

just enabled both the auto scrambler and the playercount adjuster...im at work monitoring it so i'll let you know how it goes...do i need to reboot the server or change map before it takes effect?

edit: think i just answered my own question as i had a few players on..i see it just changed to 9 and then 10...

Nutz, your server seems to have plateaued at 8/10.

I'll adjust the tool to keep the player count 4 higher instead of 2 higher. Others, when you were doing this manually, how far beyond the current player count were you setting it?

Once I got over 20 players, I could start bumping the player level up 6 players at a time. Today though, I can't seem to get the server past 15 or 16 people. I keep at +2 or +4 and seem to get the same results.

If the server drops to below 10 players, I can get to 14 pretty fast. But once there, it seems like QM starts disregarding the server a little bit.

The first couple of days worked great. Now it seems that this is good for seeding the server, but it doesn't seem to want to fill it.

well it was up to 12/16 when i got home but then map changed and everyone left so 4/8 now...

i was going up 2 when it hit full...so say 14/14 then id change to 16...it seems like 2 is sort of the magic # perhaps?...4 might not pull as much traffic since its not quite as close to full % wise...

and yeah the last 2 days i could hit 16 and BAM it hit a wall...think i got 17 once and then map changed...
