this makes me wonder... how are windows updates applied to managed machines... are they set to automatic? some need reboots etc. Just wondering.

I agree! I did as soon as I read about it, luckily it's only been noticed for a couple days.

I'm thinking NFO would more likely use the Server 2008 Role called "Windows Server Update Services"

Can push out updates to any Windows devices through it. We use it with Active Directory and all our workstations.
