Where are bans saved in bf3?

Post by .=QUACK=.Major.Pain »

When we use NFO admin commands for BF3, like !kick, !tban, !ban, where are the tban and bans saved?

I know our guys having been using these commands, but can't locate where they are saved.

Bans should be saved by the game to Admin/BanList.txt. If this doesn't seem to be happening automatically, I'll add the banList.save command to the tool for !ban.

!kick won't perform a ban, and !tban shouldn't save anything, as it's just for 5 minutes.

I'll test it and see.
Was sure they weren't there.

Actually, it does appear that I already run banlist.save after a !ban, but that !ban only bans through the game if a reason is specified. I'll change that to ban with a generic reason if one isn't specified.

!ban also results in a PB ban, and they will show in its separate banlist.

Ok - I tested it and ban puts the pb guid in the pbbans.dat file.
I don't know about the admin/banlist.txt and how it's placed there.

I banned myself to test it, and I removed the ban from the pbbans.dat file.

I still can't get in the server so I am guessing I am in the other ban list, but not sure which one. It appears to ban by EA guid, so where do you look up your EA guid?

You can find your EA GUID by looking at the "admin.listPlayers all" output from a server that you're connected to. Or, if you're already banned, look at "banList.list".

Ok - apparently server restart is required on ban removal from the pbbans.dat.

It doesn't place a ban in the banlist.txt

There is no banlist.list.
Assuming you mean banlist.txt.

How can you tell from all the other EA Guids?

banlist.list is a valid rcon command. I did not mean banlist.txt, no.

In admin.listplayers, the EA GUID is grouped with other information on each player. The order of the lines and what each means in each group is given at the beginning of the server's response.

Both are unknown commands.

"admin.listPlayers all" is the correct command

What commands are you referring to? I spoke of "admin.listPlayers all" and "banlist.list", both of which are valid commands. I tested both when I posted, in fact, to make sure I was giving the right information.

In BF3, it is a valid command.

Code: Select all

> banlist.list
OK

ok - I was typing it in the Procon console and says not good.

admin cp worked fine.

But !ban isn't placing bans in our admin/banlist.txt

I explained why above. That change will take place the next time I restart the admin daemon.
