How can I change my game and ventrillo server's IP adresses?

Post by SimplyMinecraft »

Hi, I'm currently renting a game, ventrillo and web server from NFO and I'm trying to redirect my ventrillo and game server's IP addresses to my server's domain, simplyminecraft.com so they are vent.simplyminecraftserver.com and game.simplyminecraftserver.com. I spoke to the NFO support team and they said "you could add a subdomain to it in your web hosting control panel, using a CNAME entry to point that new subdomain to the DNS of the Minecraft server." I have absolutely no idea how to do this, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out further.

Thanks!

This is a pretty simply process, let me walk you through it.

Open up your websites control panel and go to the domains tab. Once there you need to add a sub-domain that you want to use for your vent and game server.

Where it says "sub-domain" enter the name you would like. Where it says "Type" select "CNAME". Now in the box where it says "where it points" enter your server IP. This can be found on the description tab in your control panel.

Now submit changes and you should be all set. Repeat for each server you would like a custom host name for.

Keep in mind that these changes are not instant and can take some time to fully reflect.
