VDS Attack

Post by saithan »

Hello.. just to ask if exist a way to protect my servers, because i have 2 VDS runing and keep crashing everytime, i request Nfo support, but them said this:

I see from the traffic graph on your "Server usage" page for the "bs" VDS that you experienced quite a number of (D)DoS attacks on Friday and today. This is an unmanaged VDS and I don't have visibility to your servers on it, but I do recommend that you keep an eye out for further attacks and work to try to put measures in place to make them less effective. If you need help with how to go about doing this, please start a forum thread with this software question.

Your "bsservers2" shows unusual bandwidth activity that is also consistent with (D)DoS attacks.

can someone help me with this issue?

Also to staff:

Could you post pictures of the graphs with and without DDos attacks.
Maybe in the knowledge base area so that those who don't know what to look for can actually see what to look for next time.

Is it bandwidth, memory, etc we look at?

Being in a similiar situation as the poster, it we be helpful to us all to know the things to watch for.

Thanks.

Those blue incoming bandwidth spikes show the increase in attack traffic.

With a Windows unmanaged server, the first thing that you'll want to do is to run Wireshark or windump while an attack is in progress, looking for unusual traffic. I talk a bit more about this in another thread here: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... 763#p33763

Wireshark should just need to be run, and it will begin showing traffic.
